A wound or ulcer arising on the foot can take some time to heal. Healing needs to occur from the base of the wound and any dead skin needs to be removed to help this to happen. The affected area will be kept clean and padded or insoles are used to keep the pressure off and aid healing.

Poor peripheral circulation can also cause a delay in wound healing and increase the risk of infection. Wounds occurring on diabetic feet can deteriorate quickly. If your wound is not healing, or we have any concerns, we will refer you to the Diabetic Foot Clinic.
