Toes Deformities
Toe deformities such as hammer toes, claw toes and mallet toes can occur due to structural changes in the foot, often caused by footwear, arthritis or muscle imbalance. They can also occur secondary to another condition eg. bunions. These changes in the toes may lead to discomfort, restricted movement, pressure on nails and the formation of corns. Deformities may be flexible at first but can become rigid over time, making them more difficult to manage. Early assessment can help identify the cause and slow progression.
How we can help
We will assess your foot alignment and identify any underlying biomechanical issues. Treatment may include footwear advice, orthoses, and exercises to strengthen and support the toes. Any corns that have formed can be removed and protective padding may reduce friction and relieve discomfort. Where appropriate, we may recommend night splints or a silicone splint for daytime wear to realign the toes. If the nails are affected, a nail bracing system such as Onyfix® will help to manage symptoms. Our aim is to relieve pressure, prevent further complications, and improve your comfort.
