Athlete’s foot
This is an infectious fungal condition presenting as itchy, flaking skin. Although it is frequently found between the toes, Athlete’s foot can also occur elsewhere on the foot. A low grade infection may not be itchy and might be difficult to spot. It is particularly common in feet that are sweaty, which gives the fungal infection an environment in which it can proliferate.
How we can help
To avoid Athlete’s foot, don’t go barefoot in communal areas. Ensure you dry thoroughly between the toes.
Athlete’s foot is usually treated with antifungal creams or sprays. If left untreated the fungus can spread to the toenails, which are more difficult to treat.
It is important that hosiery and footwear are concurrently treated to prevent re-infection.
In cases of severe hyperhidrosis (sweaty feet), PODtox™ can help to reduce the sweating, creating an environment which enables more effective treatment of the condition.
