Flat Feet

Flat feet, or pes planus, are when the arch of the foot is low or on the ground.  It can be part of the normal structure of the foot and usually only need treatment if they cause discomfort or are causing pain in other parts of the body.

It is common for young children to have flat feet up to the age of three, while the shape of their feet are still forming.

How we can help

If you are concerned about your, or your child’s, feet, we will examine them to check for any underlying problems, for example tendon weakness. Treatment will usually involve footwear advice and may include the prescription of orthoses and exercises.
